Ray of Hope

This video on sex-trafficking in places like India breaks my heart.

This is a powerful story of a girl who went through that experience twice and was rescued. She said, “It would have been better that I would’ve died when my mother gave birth to me”.

Thank the Lord for the people who work in bringing a ray of hope to these victims. Pray for many more to join them.

All I have is Christ

Wow.

I  loved the song ”All I have is Christ”  when I first purchased the NEXT 2009 Live album. The lyrics are so powerful.

A few weeks ago, they started playing it at church. I was super excited about it :)

Then last Sunday…they sang the song at church! Awesome!

Today, Bob Kaufflin posted this video made by Chris Powers (the same guy who made a video for The Prodigal and The Gospel Song). This time, he set the song in the context of a Christian being persecuted for the sake of the Gospel. AMAZING. It stirs my emotions and will to GO because after all… ALL I HAVE IS CHRIST.

“Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the same reproach that he endured for here we have no lasting city…but we seek a city that is to come” (Hebrews 13: 13-14)

ps: I don’t think I’ve ever linked so much in one single post :-P

Haiti memories: Yes, Jesus loves me

When we arrived  at the yard, we found about 50 children playing around and having fun. They were all wearing the same pale blue t-shirt , so I assumed these children were the orphans that stayed in the orphanage we were visiting in Haiti.

A few minutes after our arrival, the kids were called to line up for a brief Bible study time. They immediately lined up under the scorching sun and all of them, from the youngest one to the oldest one, stood there without complaining. Then they started practicing their memory verse  saying it loudly. “These kids behave better than my students in the Dominican!” I thought to myself.

By this time we figured out that these kids did not belong to the orphanage. They were kids that lived on the dusty streets of the city. Some of them had lost their parents in the earthquake. They came to the orphanage every other afternoon for a time of games, Bible study and food because the orphanage had no place for them and this was all they could do to help them.

Then they sang a song. And boy,  did they sing it like they meant it. They sang the very famous “Jesus loves me, this I know.”

Jesus loves me! This I know,
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

At that moment, I fell apart.

These kids are singing that Jesus loves them… I thought. I moved away from the group because I couldn’t take this anymore. My heart cried. With their melodious and vibrant voices in the background, a knot formed in my throat. Tears formed in my eyes. This was simply too much.

These kids are singing ‘Yes, Jesus loves me’  but they have no homes. They have nothing to eat. They lost everything, and yet…they believe it, they sing it. They’re saying  ’Jesus loves me’“.

It was as if those kids were holding up a mirror to me. They showed my lack of appreciation for God’s kindness. Even though life was not going as I expected, like these kids, I had a million more reasons to sing and praise and hope because…Jesus loved me, and for the first time ever, I knew it.

What a great encouragement! Jesus give us faith like these children. For the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.

Haiti memories: singing a song

This was on our first missions trip a year ago :)

Love these kids.

My heart went out to Haiti

My heart went out to Haiti for the first time a year ago. It was so excited. It was so afraid. An earthquake had destroyed the city– my heart did not know what to expect.

My heart went out to Haiti a year ago. It broke when it found kids everywhere with no mom and dad, and with barely enough food to eat every other day.

My heart went out to Haiti a year ago. It leapt and cried for joy when it heard orphans sing  ”Jesus loves me, yes I know” even though the earthquake  took their homes and left them in the streets. But it never took away their faith in God.

My heart went out to Haiti a year ago. It marveled at and enjoyed its beautiful beaches, and the warm spirit of its people.

My heart went out to Haiti a year ago. It learned so many lessons. Those kids taught it that God is never late and there’s always a reason to smile and hope.

My heart went out to Haiti a year ago. I left it there with those amazing kids. They’re hugging and loving it, melting it with cute questions.

My heart went out to Haiti a year ago and did not come home with me.  I miss it dearly. I can’t wait to go back and meet it there!
